Apple is reportedly testing a new internal chatbot named “Veritas” to trial upcoming upgrades to Siri, its virtual assistant. The Veritas chatbot is designed for Apple employees only and is part of the company’s broader effort to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities. Much like popular chatbot applications such as ChatGPT, Veritas allows employees to make requests, engage in back-and-forth conversations, and revisit past exchanges.

The primary goal of this internal tool appears to be to gather feedback on new Siri features, including the ability to search through personal data and perform in-app actions such as editing photos. Despite the advancements this internal testing could bring, there are currently no plans for Veritas to be released to the public. Apple may instead rely on Google’s Gemini for its AI-powered search solutions.

Veritas is being used to test Apple’s new system, named Linwood, which will power the revamped Siri. Linwood utilizes large language models, including Apple’s own, combined with a third-party model.

Internal chatbot boosts Siri enhancements

This system is currently being tested to determine how effectively it can enhance Siri’s capabilities. Apple has been relatively slow to fully integrate AI into its products compared to its competitors. The company launched its own AI features, collectively known as Apple Intelligence, just last year.

Unlike other companies, Apple Intelligence is powered by a combination of proprietary technology and AI from partnered companies. Apple’s latest smartphone release, the iPhone 17, has already hit the market. With the new Siri appearing to be the next significant mobile release, Apple is still finalizing which AI companies to partner with for the improved voice assistant.

Reports indicate that Apple is slated to debut the new Siri in March 2026. This revamped Siri represents a significant step for Apple as it seeks to incorporate more advanced AI capabilities into its ecosystem. As the company continues its testing and development, users can expect a more powerful and versatile voice assistant in the near future.
