The Battlefield 6 open beta is now live, giving players their first extended look at the next installment in the popular shooter series. The beta is available on PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players can choose between two display modes on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X consoles.
The Balanced mode targets 60 frames per second with higher-quality visuals. This includes improved shadows, lighting, terrain detail, and resolution. The Performance mode aims for 120fps but averages closer to 90fps in practice.

It sacrifices some visual enhancements to achieve the higher frame rate. The Xbox Series S runs the game without selectable modes. It targets 60fps while reducing effects like screen space reflections, draw distance, and certain lighting details.

Early comparisons show that the PS5 Pro version has the highest average resolution. It also features more debris and particle effects during destruction and a longer draw distance. The standard PS5 has a slight advantage over the Xbox Series X in terrain and particle rendering.
Beta sets new player records
All platforms maintain a solid 60fps in Balanced mode. However, the Performance mode is less consistent across the board.
Despite this, the beta’s optimization is impressive given the scale of the environments. EA and DICE are running the beta across two weekends. Weekend 1 lasts until August 11 at 8:00 AM UTC.
Weekend 2 is scheduled for August 14–18. No code is required to participate. Players can access the beta through the EA App, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, or Microsoft Store.
The available maps in the beta include Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, and Iberian Offensive. Featured modes are Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination, Closed Weapon Conquest, and King of the Hill. Battlefield 6 is set to officially launch on October 10, 2025.
It will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X consoles.
