Google has unveiled its latest Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams, now featuring 2K video resolution and enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities. The new lineup includes the 3rd generation Nest Cam Indoor, 2nd generation Nest Cam Outdoor, and 3rd generation Nest Doorbell. All devices offer upgraded video quality, with the Nest Cams featuring a resolution of 2,560 x 1,400 and a 152-degree diagonal field of view.

The Nest Doorbell offers a resolution of 2,048 x 2,048 and a 166-degree FOV. All three models also support up to 6x digital zoom.

Today in things I was briefed on but don't have time to write about yet: @madebygoogle is bringing Gemini to the home, plus lots of new camera hardware, though the new speaker doesn't come until next year. https://t.co/F0Zh5UtWzK

Google claims the enhanced resolution and wider FOV provide clearer images and improve the devices’ ability to capture video in low-light conditions.

The company states these new models offer 120 percent more light sensitivity than their predecessors, allowing for full-color video capture longer into the evening and earlier in the morning. These new features are designed to support Google’s advanced AI functionalities. Users can digitally zoom in on specific areas through the Home app, which could be useful for monitoring high-traffic zones like a garden or walkway.

Next-level clarity in home security

Alerts will now include animated previews that focus on the moving subject, helping users quickly identify the cause of notifications. A major highlight is the updated AI features powered by Google’s new Gemini AI.

This includes a chatbot feature called Ask Home, which can provide information about garden activities, such as identifying what’s eating your plants, and offering photo evidence. The AI can also perform smart home tasks and create automations through natural language commands. The new Home Brief feature provides an AI-generated summary of the day’s activities.

However, both of these AI features require a Google Home Premium subscription. The new Nest devices are available starting today. The Nest Cam Indoor is priced at $100, the Nest Cam Outdoor at $150, and the Nest Doorbell at $180.

They can be purchased from the Google Store and other retail partners. This release marks Google’s latest effort to enhance home security technology through better hardware and smarter AI integrations.
