The highly anticipated medieval battle game with modern weapons, Kingmakers, has been delayed. Originally scheduled to launch in Early Access on October 8, Redemption Road Games posted an update revealing that the release has been pushed back indefinitely. The developers explained that the delay is necessary to allow more time for content polishing, stating, “We need a bit more time on content polish before we feel good about charging money for it.”
Kingmakers, which has generated significant hype since its announcement last year, is among the top wishlisted titles on Steam.
The game sends players back to a war-torn medieval era equipped with a vast arsenal of modern weapons, ranging from guns to tanks. The gameplay revealed so far has been described as over-the-top and ambitious.
Kingmakers project delayed for thorough polish
The development team emphasized their commitment to delivering a polished product, noting the game’s ambitious scale. “We set out to push the Unreal Engine 4 codebase to its absolute limits, while still providing true 60fps to midrange PCs,” they wrote. “We are an 80% engineering team, who got into this business to push technological barriers.
We currently have tens of thousands of soldiers, each with AI and pathfinding that rivals what you’d expect from a AAA third-person shooter. When you walk away from a battle, it continues to play out. Nothing is faked.”
No new release date has been provided yet, but the developers assured fans that they will soon present a half-hour long deep dive into the gameplay, offering a comprehensive overview of their progress.
