Hollow Knight: Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved indie game, will be playable for the first time at Gamescom 2025. Microsoft has confirmed that a demo of the game will be available at the Xbox booth during the event, which takes place from August 20 to August 24 in Cologne, Germany. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong since its announcement in 2019.

While a firm release date has not been set, the game is expected to launch on PC, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and potentially the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Matthew Griffin, who manages marketing and publishing for developer Team Cherry, has been addressing fans’ concerns about the release date and platform availability. He clarified that Silksong’s launch is not tied to any specific console release date, despite previous hints from Xbox president Sarah Bond about a potential release alongside the ROG Xbox Ally handheld.

The development journey of Hollow Knight: Silksong has been marked by numerous delays, fueling ongoing speculation and anticipation among fans.

Silksong demo debut at Gamescom

Each presentation from major gaming platforms sparks hope for a release date announcement, but Team Cherry remains committed to delivering a polished final product when it’s ready.

In addition to Hollow Knight: Silksong, the Xbox booth at Gamescom will feature demos for several other highly anticipated titles. These include Onimusha: Way of The Sword, There Are No Ghosts at the Grand, PowerWash Simulator 2, Intergrade Invincible VS, Super Meat Boy 3D, Cronos: The New Dawn, and Mistfall Hunter. Gamescom attendees will also have the opportunity to experience the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X portable Xbox consoles, which are set for release later this year.

Other major attractions include the public debut of Ninja Gaiden 4 and a new “exciting city update” for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. As the gaming community gathers at Gamescom, excitement surrounding Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to build. Fans are eager to finally get hands-on experience with the game and learn more about its release plans.

Stay tuned for updates from Gamescom and other upcoming gaming events.
