Paradox Interactive has announced it will refund all PlayStation 5 Premium Editions of “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.” This follows community backlash over the decision to paywall game content. Starting next week, anyone who pre-ordered this edition via the PlayStation Store will receive a refund. Community developer DebbieElla confirmed the refunds in light of recent “adjustments.” She stated details on the changes will be shared on September 17th.
The controversy stemmed from Paradox’s earlier announcement. Access to two additional clans would require a £20 purchase through a Shadows and Silk content pack. These clans, representing additional content developed after the game’s transition from Hardsuit Labs to The Chinese Room, were initially intended as paid content.
In a Discord post, DebbieElla explained that the team is “working hard on the adjustments.” They aim to ensure the changes positively affect the user experience.
Refunds for PS5 preorders announced
She clarified that refunds would start on Monday, September 8th.
Consumers would have the opportunity to pre-order their Premium Edition again before the official release on October 21st. DebbieElla thanked players for their patience. She noted that this change only impacts the PlayStation edition, with other platforms remaining unaffected.
The move has led to speculation that all clans might now be included in the base game. However, as one player noted, “taking the clans out of the deluxe editions is the easy part. The hard part is trying to figure out what else they can put in there.”
The sequel, which is based on the cult favorite RPG and tabletop game, still holds a question mark for many.
There are questions about the depth and role-playing elements it will deliver upon release.
