The highly anticipated 2D action platformer “Shinobi: Art of Vengeance” has released a free demo, generating excitement among fans and newcomers alike.

Why it matters: The demo offers an early glimpse into the game’s blend of classic platformer mechanics and modern visuals, showcasing its potential to be a standout release in the gaming calendar.

The details:

  • The demo features an enhanced version of the first stage, Oboro Village, with the return of iconic ninja Joe Musashi.
  • Players can master ninja arts, navigate a stylized world, and enjoy a thrilling challenge with enhanced abilities, greater enemy variety, and a modified shop system.
  • An Arcade Mode is available for those looking to push their skills further and aim for the highest score.
  • “Shinobi: Art of Vengeance” is set to release on August 29 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam).

What they’re saying:

  • “DIABOLICAL! To drop this GOD TIER SHINOBI Demo the same minute the other one dropped. Nah nah nah. THIS IS GAMING”
  • “Playing this demo made me feel like a kid again back in ’97 when my dad gave me my Sega Mega Drive II and I played Revenge of Shinobi until the buttons fell off. It may be the nostalgia talking, but the gameplay is smooth, and the difficulty is just right. I think Sega and Lizardcube got a banger on their hands for those that enjoy this genre.”
  • “Look at my time and understand this game has more style and sophistication than 99.9 percent of the industry. Matter of fact the only other game as fly as this is NINJA GAIDEN… I cannot wait to get this game. Action games are back.”

What’s next: “Shinobi: Art of Vengeance” launches on August 29, 2025, with a Digital Deluxe Edition available for preorder that includes additional content and early access.
