SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket on Sunday morning, August 31, 2025, from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The rocket carried 28 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit. The mission began at 7:49 a.m. EDT and lasted one hour and five minutes.
The Falcon 9’s first stage, Booster 1077, completed its 23rd flight successfully. It was recovered after landing on the drone ship “Just Read the Instructions” in the Atlantic Ocean. SpaceX confirmed the deployment of the 28 Starlink satellites, marking another successful mission for its broadband internet satellite megaconstellation.

The launch had a 90 percent chance of favorable conditions at the window’s opening, which later decreased to 65 percent due to potential cumulus and anvil cloud formations, according to the 45th Weather Squadron.
Starlink’s service has grown substantially, reaching 7 million customers across approximately 150 countries by August 2025. This represents an increase of 3 million users since September 2024. Cornelia Rosu, the senior director of Starlink Production, stated that SpaceX’s facilities in Redmond, Washington, are producing dozens of Starlink V2 Mini satellites weekly, at a rate of 70 satellites per week.
SpaceX plans to launch at least 170 Falcon 9 rockets in 2025, mainly to support its Starlink constellation. With 108 launches already completed this year, the company remains committed to expanding global internet connectivity through its Starlink satellites.
