Mario Kart World has received a significant update, now at version 1.3.0 on the Nintendo Switch 2. This update brings several improvements and new features, especially for the game’s “Free Roam” mode. One of the key changes is the map now shows the locations of P Switches and Peach Medallions that players have already collected.
This allows players to track their progress without revealing the locations of uncollected items. Players can also select a P Switch from the map to move closer to its location. The update also makes it easier to encounter UFOs in “Free Roam” mode.
Players can now transform into the character pulled into the UFO, unless the “Dash Food” setting is set to “Doesn’t transform.”
Online play has also been enhanced. Players can now join friends playing “Knockout Tour” by selecting “Friends” from the “Online Play” menu. Up to 2 players can enter “Free Roam” while waiting to join friends.
Spectating options have been improved in “Knockout Tour” and “Balloon Battle” modes. Several adjustments have been made to the racing mechanics. The force of jumps when landing on a rival has been reduced.
Free roam enhancements and online improvements
Time gaps when transitioning between certain phases in “Knockout Tour” and “Balloon Battle” have been decreased. Item box regeneration and post-crash invincibility times have been shortened.
The update also includes numerous bug fixes. Issues with ranking errors in “Online Play” and “Wireless Play” have been corrected. A problem with Spiny Shells malfunctioning in “Wireless Play” and “Online Play” has been resolved.
Various glitches causing players to be incorrectly displaced or stuck during gameplay have been fixed. Overall gameplay has been enhanced with an increased frequency of lap-type courses in “VS Race” and wireless races. Numerous fixes across different game modes have been implemented to address issues with items, movements, and game dynamics.
The Mario Kart World community has reacted positively to the update. Many appreciate the new map functionalities in “Free Roam,” which make it easier to track collectibles. Some players are looking forward to future content updates and additional features.
This update caters to both casual players and those dedicated to completing every aspect of the game. It is hoped that it will enhance the overall gameplay experience for everyone.
