Nexon Games and LoreVault have announced Woochi the Wayfarer, a single-player fantasy action adventure set in Korea’s Joseon era, coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Why it matters: The game promises a unique play experience rooted in traditional Korean elements, aiming for global appeal.

The details:

  • Woochi the Wayfarer is built on Unreal Engine 5 and will bring the Joseon fantasy world to life with vivid graphics and an original story inspired by The Tale of Jeon Woochi, a classic Korean novel.
  • The narrative follows the adventures of Jeon Woochi, a mage who uses his powers to fight injustice and trick the corrupt.
  • Players can expect an immersive experience featuring magical settings, traditional Korean monsters, and music.
  • The game’s soundtrack, inspired by traditional Korean music, is composed by Jung Jae-il, the acclaimed musician behind the soundtracks of several renowned films.

LoreVault, the developer of Woochi the Wayfarer, is collaborating with experts in various fields such as Korean literature and traditional music to effectively represent Korea’s unique history and culture.

What they’re saying:

  • “We plan to present a game that will appeal to gamers of all cultures, telling an amazing story that fully showcases Nexon Games’ development capabilities and accumulated experience,” said Nexon Games CEO Park Yong-hyun in a press release.

What’s next: While a specific release date has not been revealed, action fans should eagerly anticipate this gripping Joseon-era experience.
