Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake: seven-minute gameplay trailer released

Square Enix has released a seven-minute gameplay overview trailer for the upcoming “Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake.” The trailer showcases the games’ exploration, combat, and party lineup. The remake is set to launch next month for the Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2. The Switch 2 version will be released as a Game Key-Card.

Square Enix has confirmed that there will be no upgrade path from the Switch to the Switch 2 version. Square Enix recently released a performance patch for “Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake” for the Switch 2. The development team has announced that Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake has gone gold and will be released on October 30th, 2025.

Dragon Quest remake gameplay details

The announcement has sparked various reactions from the gaming community. Some players are excited for the upcoming release, while others have expressed concerns over the lack of an upgrade path and the decision to release the Switch 2 version as a Game Key-Card.
