The absence of the Switch 2 in the launch lineup is surprising, given previous indications from both Activision and Nintendo. Sources have confirmed that both parties are committed to bringing the franchise to the Switch. “We’re committed to getting the franchise on Switch.
Both teams [are] working on it. Will share details when ready,” they said.

Leaker reveals launch details
Updates will continue to be provided as more information becomes available. Activision has outdone itself with the latest marketing tactic for the upcoming “Black Ops 7.” The campaign caps off a week of elaborate promotions.
The marketing blitz started Monday with the launch of a fake robotics company called The Guild. Real-world posters for this fictional company included a QR code advertising their mission of “Tech You Can Trust.” This was followed by several fake magazine covers and news stories featuring The Guild. On Friday, the campaign culminated in a dramatic trailer showing The Guild “going public,” with one of its executives ringing the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange.
This elaborate setup serves as a teaser for the storyline in “Black Ops 7,” where The Guild is portrayed as a global tech force positioning itself as the ultimate safeguard for humanity. In the new game, The Guild develops robotics to better society, led by CEO Emma Kagan, who claims to be humanity’s last line of defense against emerging threats. The game’s setting is 2035, and it follows four decades after the events of 2024’s “Black Ops 6.”
Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, “Black Ops 7” will feature Milo Ventimiglia as David Mason, a character previously introduced in “Black Ops 2.” Kiernan Shipka will portray The Guild CEO Emma Kagan, while “CoD” alum Michael Rooker reprises his “Black Ops 2” role of Mike Harper.
Officially announced during the Xbox Games Showcase in June, the “full reveal” of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 7,” including an expected official release date, will be unveiled on Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. PT during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. “As we ramp up to the worldwide reveal of ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 7,’ we set out to create something as bold and thought-provoking as the game itself,” stated Activision chief marketing officer Tyler Bahl.
“Set in 2035, it draws on themes of technology, robotics, and the military-industrial complex, amplifying the tension and intrigue that define the ‘Black Ops’ experience. We believe it will be one of our most impactful and talked-about campaigns yet.”
